What Is Early Treatment?
Early orthodontic treatment, also known as Phase I treatment, is designed for children ages 7 to 10. By guiding jaw growth and creating space for permanent teeth, early intervention can prevent more serious orthodontic problems from developing. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends all children have an evaluation by age 7.
Who It's For
- Children ages 7–10 with developing bite issues
- Kids with crowding or spacing concerns
- Children with thumb-sucking or tongue-thrusting habits
- Those with early or late loss of baby teeth
- Children with difficulty chewing or biting
Who It's Not For
- Teenagers or adults needing comprehensive orthodontic treatment
- Children under 7 without orthodontic concerns
- Patients needing only simple space maintenance
